Natural Family Planning (NFP) Starting Points

Below are some good starting points for natural family planning:

1. Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler

2. The Art of Natural Family Planning by Couple to Couple Leagueclipart women reading books

3. La Leche League International website (

4. Institute for Reproductive Health website (

5. Couple to Couple League website ( offers local or online classses

6. Cycle Beads (search online, can make own or purchase)

7. Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition by Marilyn Shannon

8. Smart Phone Applications (can help you chart, but a book is still a good idea because the app probably will not explain everything, and a class is even better)

This method takes a little extra effort to learn, but if practiced correctly is just as effective as methods such as the pill or IUD without the side effects. Ultimately, it costs less money and is better for the environment. More is known now about the fertility cycle than ever before and long gone are the days of the old ineffective rhythm method. Modern natural family planning is much different, and involves using several methods such as recording a waking temperature every day and a mucus sign and checking the cervix.

Also, it is probably good for a responsible teenager to study this as it can help her avoid a painful period and be prepared with menstrual pads when her period happens. Toni Weschler has a book aimed at ages fourteen and up called Cycle Savvy. There are actually cloth menstrual pads for anyone who did not know that. The Couple to Couple League is diverse and open to all groups of people and you do not have to be married to take the class. You could be single or taking the class as a couple before marriage or any other situation.  Charting your cycle helps you become more health conscious and could alert you to health issues before they become more severe.

May I just say what a relief to uncover an individual who actually knows what they’re discussing on the web. You certainly realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people really need to read this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised that you aren’t more popular because you definitely have the gift.

I have no idea what that says. Bravo probably means congratulations or something positive. Google translate could not help me. I was thinking maybe French, but Google Translate suggested Galician, and then did not translate into English. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

Hiya, I’m really glad I’ve found this information. Today bloggers publish only about gossips and net and this is really irritating. A good blog with interesting content, that’s what I need. Thank you for keeping this web site, I will be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Cant find it.

Right now there is no newsletter. In the future it is definitely something I would like to add to the site. Thanks for the visit and the comment. – Michelle =)
