August 14, 2016 (Beehive Photos Below)
- irregular comb from my very novice years
- top bar hive had some pretty big ants, placed cornmeal near the ants
- definitely had poison ivy this time of year
- planted tiger lilies near a black walnut tree, may have been a mistake as they could be sensitive to the the tree’s root toxin making them weak and stunted
August 24, 2016 2:22 to 3:05 PM (Beehive Photos Below)
- top bar hive has ants, seem to not be in the hive, just between the cover and top of frames
- fatal funnel fly/wasp traps moved to trees, guess the trap really does have to be yellow to catch the wasps, blue did attract flies and the yellow paint wore off
- baited fly traps with 9 Lives cat food
- purchased shepherd hooks to hang wasp traps, discovered they are really just for decoration, may look into making garden signs to hang on them in the future

- white flowers, in May there are purple flowers, no do not have beehive photos for June and July 2016
- ants in top bar hive gone thanks to the cornmeal, ants cannot digest cornmeal, they also give the cornmeal to their queen and the queen cannot digest the cornmeal
- random photo of oak sapling planted September 21, 2016, unrelated to beekeeping, just documenting that is when it was planted. As of writing this in June 2017 most of the saplings did not survive the winter.
- random photos of picnic tables as that is when they were built and placed outside
October 19, 2016 4:39 PM (Beehive Photos Below)
- all hives looked healthy, had a steady stream of bees in and out
- random tractor photos, unrelated to beekeeping
- photos of garden shed and newly planted oak saplings, also unrelated to beehives
- Order of beehives are #3 (2015) #4 (2015) #6 (2016) #7 (2016) #2 (2015)
- hive number 1 is my only top bar hive and was started in 2014 and froze over the winter, it sat in the barn for a year, put a package of bees in it in 2016
November 17, 2016 12:53 PM (Beehive Photos Below)
- fatal funnel fly traps very full, color probably does make a difference, blue attracts flies and yellow attracts wasps, spray painted some of them yellow and the paint chipped off
- added insulation on November 17, 2016, there are before and after photos of the insulation taken on the same day, hives are partially insulated
November 30, 2016 3:57 PM (Beehive Photos Below)
- all six beehives fully insulated/winterized
