Beehives December 2017

Below are photos of my insulated beehives for winter 2017. In November there was a very small amount of bees going in and out of the hive. In December there were no bees seen going in and out of the hives. The insulation was added on December 6th. The close up  of the entrance of hive #2 on December 22, 2017 shows some frozen bees. I hope the bees survive the winter and I figure out how to harvest the honey by August and September. As previous posts on the beehives explain I did treat them for varroa with Honey-B-Healthy patties and Apiguard and a vaporizer/oxalic acid.
